I thought I would share some of my testing results using both the latest AMD AHCI (amdsata.sys: 1.2.1.292) and MS AHCI (msahci.sys: 6.1.7601.17514 win7-sp1) drivers with my Plextor 128GB SSD drive (PX-128M2S). The results are that the MSAHCI driver was far superior in read operations with slightly imroved write function. AHCI is short for Advanced Host Controller Interface that is defined by Intel. This operating mode is commonly seen in the newer PCs. AHCI is a relatively new technology that owns many native functions of the Serial ATA standard interface such as NCQ and hot swapping, which improve the compatibility and performance of your devices. Purpose Installs the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (AHCI) driver version 12.9.0.1001 for Intel® NUC. Which file to choose Download the driver (STORWin788.112.9.0.1001.exe) and one of the following F6 Driver Diskettes (depending on your operating system). The only problem with using AHCI mode is that it cannot be changed after the installation of Windows, so you need to set up AHCI mode in BIOS before installing Windows. The Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Driver service is a kernel mode driver. If Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Driver fails to load or initialize, the error is logged and the computer attempts to restart, using the Last Known Good configuration. If the Last Known Good configuration fails, Windows 10 startup also fails, and the boot process halts with a Stop error. If you disable this service, Windows 10 will fail to start. Do NOT change this service startup configuration if your computer is working.Restore Default Startup Type for Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI DriverAutomated Restore
1. Select your Windows 10 edition and release, and then click on the Download button below.

4. Restart the computer to save changes.
